NORDEN celebrated the naming of NORD Snow Queen with a visit to Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai. It was attended by board members and high-level executives from NORDEN along with their spouses. On this auspicious occasion the guest of honour was Mrs Kirsten Bendtsen - wife of Mr Bendt Bendtsen, Danish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Business & Economic Affairs – who had been invited by NORDEN to be the Godmother of the ship. Minister Bendtsen was also in attendance.

The visit was carefully structured and themed to ensure that the delegates, many first time visitors to China, were thoroughly entertained and given a greater historical, geographical and political understanding of China. Our aim was to fully immerse the delegation in this experience in order for them to better understand the country that they are doing increasing amounts of business with.

The event included formal dinners, tours and excursions of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, business meetings, site visits as well as the ship naming itself. We also organised a seminar on China with an expert guest speaker. Most of the dinners included pre and/or post dinner talks and discussions. The event concluded with the annual NORDEN/SMU Scholarship Awards dinner at which Minister Bendtsen presented the awards.

This highly ambitious programme was extremely successful and well received by the entire delegation and set a new benchmark for our future delegations to China.
