    • NORDEN - Naming of m.v. NORD MARINER - 28th August 2006
    On Monday 28th August 2006 NORDEN took delivery of the m.v. NORD MARINER, the first of three ships to be built by Chengxi Shipyard in Jiangyin.

    The contract for the new ship was signed on 30th November 2005. On this occasion SMU students and teachers had been in attendance to join in the celebrations and also to receive scholarship awards from NORDEN, so it was appropriate that they should attend the welcome dinner on the eve of the delivery of the first new ship. NORDEN hosted the dinner at Yin in Shanghai on Sunday 27th August.

    Students and staff from SMU mingled with NORDEN executives and board members and enjoyed a fantastic 18-course dinner.

    On Monday 28th August, NORDEN staff, guests and students and teachers from SMU travelled to Jiangyin to attend the formal naming of m.v. NORD MARINER. The ceremony took place in searing heat on the West berth of Chengxi Shipyard. Mrs Gu Xiu Fang, wife of President Yu Shicheng from SMU, took the honours for the naming.

    Later the same day, all guests attended a formal banquet organised by Chengxi Shipyard.

    The whole delegation returned to Shanghai on Tuesday 19th August, where NORDEN guests and executives attended a final lunch at Chinoise Story before departing Shanghai.
